Born Akorede Babatunde Okunola on August 7, 1969, in the Mosafejo area of Ajegunle, Lagos State, Osupa grew up in Ibadan, Oyo State. His musical journey was shaped by his father, Moshood Ajiwere Layeye, a respected Wéré music artist and an elder cousin of Fuji pioneer Ayinde Barrister. This strong musical heritage paved the way for Osupa to become a dominant force in Fuji music.
