Orlando Owoh, born Oladipupo Owomoyela in Osogbo, Nigeria, was a prominent Nigerian musician known for his Toye style of highlife music. He was born on February 14, 1932. Owoh’s father, also a part-time musician, was a carpenter, and his mother was from the town of Owo. Owoh initially worked as a carpenter, but his passion for music led him to join Nigeria’s Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group in 1958. He later formed Dr. Orlando Owoh and his Omimah Band in 1960, becoming a leading figure in Nigerian highlife music.
