Adogunro Jaiye Jaiye (Medley) is Yoruba song by Dr Orlando Owoh And His Young Kenneries Band. The song is from their 1977 album released under Blue Pie Publishing USA.
Dr. Orlando Owoh, born Stephen Oladipupo Olaore Owomoyela on February 14, 1932, in Osogbo, Nigeria, was a renowned Nigerian highlife musician and bandleader of Yoruba descent. Dr Orlando Owoh’s musical journey began in 1958 when he joined the Kola Ogunmola Theatre Group as a drummer and singer. He later formed his first band, the Omimah Band, around 1960 and subsequently established the Young Kenneries Band in 1975, which became one of his most celebrated ensembles.
Orlando Owoh’s music was distinct for his grassroot approach to highlife, emphasizing his guttural vocals, guitar, drum, and relatable lyrics. Unlike many highlife musicians who incorporated Caribbean-style horn arrangements, Owoh focused on a more traditional Yoruba sound.
The Young Kenneries Band gained significant popularity with this 1977 self-titled album, featuring tracks like “Festac ’77,” “Adogunro Jaiye Jaiye,” and “Operation Feed the Nation.”
