Astonishing Nigerian Igbo highlife singer and performer, Chief Oliver De Coque  presents this classic Igbo highlife single  dubbed “Engirigbo”.

Nigerian guitarist King (Dr.) Chief Oliver de Coque (born Oliver Sunday Akanite) is one of Africa’s most prolific recording artists. Since releasing his debut album Messiah Messiah in 1977, Coque has recorded no fewer than 73 albums in his homeland. His dance-inspiring “Ogene” style of Nigerian high life, which blends modern high life and traditional Igbo music, has produced such hits as “Biri Ka Mbiri,” “Ana Enwe Obodo Enwe,” “Peoples Club Of Nigeria” and “Identity,” which remained on Radio Nigeria 2’s Top Ten throughout most of 1981.

In this song, Oliver De Coque talks of “Engirigbo”, a form of vanacular spoken by some people in eastern Nigeria by combining English and Igbo languages together. Oliver calls this act “engirigbo”, saying in the lyrics, “asulu Igbo, asulu Oyibo, onye asuzina Engirigbo…”

This chart-topping masterpiece was taken from his 2014 album project titled “Engirigbo” which contains over 5 tracks.
